Watercolor on watercolor paper by Katherine Gotthardt.  My first attempt at using watercolors.  I literally used my fingers to create the background.  It was lots of fun  : )   

Tempera on cardboard, early 2002.  One of my very early attempts.  I was going to get rid of it, but my family won't let me. 

My husband asked me to paint this for his birthday back in 2002.  I think it's acrylic.  It's on canvas.

This was one of my earliest attempts at painting (as an adult).  I did it around 2001, and I think it's oil.  It's on canvas board.  There's a lot of glare from the camera here.

I did this oil on canvas board a couple of months before David and I got married, September 21, 2002.  We scanned the painting and used the image on our wedding invitations.

I finished this painting today.  It is in honor of my mother (in-law), Dorie Gotthardt , an amazing inspiration and artist who died January 8 of this year. I promised her I would work on trying to paint more realistic things.  Since I'm self taught for the most part, this small piece on a 5x5 canvas was a real challenge.  By Katherine Gotthardt, 2013.
